TVC Downy 'Passion'

Just did the post work supervision for this material. We wanted just
the right amount of particles animation so it comes out like scent rather than odor.

Shoot and finish in Bangkok. Direction by Matt Harris.
Cinematography by John Alfirevich.

This material was aired in about 5 countries in asia.

TVC Downy Vietnam 'Hands'

This material was developed for Northern Vietnam.
Hand washing clothes post a serious challenge for the Vietnamese
women up north during winter. Downy single rinse solves the problem.

It was good to be back in Vietnam. Worked in Leo Burnett VN before
and it felt like I was coming home. We had a very good team
in the form of Australian director Matt Harris and Malaysian
cinematographer Chin Chen Fong.

Working with Chin was very refreshing as he loves using available light.
If I remember correctly we only had 1 or 2 4k's. Reserve light
if ever the shoot extends and we loose ambient light.
This ad was shot using 16mm.

Matt reviewing the first scene. He works fast and knows what he wants.
Very down-to-earth, collaborative and quite intelligent.
He's actually one of the team's favorite directors.

While we were setting up the washing scene it rained a bit.

Make-up retouch on the left with Cindy and lead talent.
We lost time during the rain so now we have to move faster.

We had already lost ambient light when we shot the product.
Chin lit the scene with the 2 4k's lighting the BG scene and a flashlight
and mirror lighting the pack.

The falling flowers on green screen was the last thing we shot.
Daz or Darren Loveday, our production art director was the one throwing
the flowers from the crane. Beside him was Chin's assistant DOP.

Shot in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. Grading in Bangkok, The Post.
Post production in Vietnam.

Shoot started at 7am. Ended around 9pm. Not bad considering we lost
about 2 hours due to the rain.

TVC Olay Body Bar with Angel Aquino

Angel was so easy to work with. She's both beauty and brains - which makes it so unfair hahaha! The camera just loves her. Below are some of the BTS during the shoot.

The shot below was the image that Boy Yñiguez took in the pic above.

This material was directed by Adrian Calumpang. Cinematography by Boy Yñiguez.

We developed two materials for this Campaign. One using Angel Aquino (model, actress, host, entrepreneur) and one with Daphne Oseña Paez (TV host, producer and businesswoman):  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OlsrkfhAjQk

Both shot in Manila, Philippines. Grading in Bangkok. Post in Manila, Optima Digital.

TVC Mazda 3 Launch

This Mazda ad was shot more than 28 hours straight. The shoot was very simple. It was the lighting or the cinematography that took long. Shooting a car posts a challenge as its just one big reflective mass. Post production took about 2 weeks because of the animation involved. The entire project was completed in a month from briefing to post. This material was used by a number of production houses in asia as reference for their TVC as well. Again, attached vid is low res.

This material was directed by Adrian Calumpang. Cinematography by Jimmy Wong. Shoot to finish in Manila. Animation and post work done at Optima Digital.

Are you a car person? I'm a truck person. I'm a fan of four wheel drives. I must admit though that the Mazda Demio is too cute to ignore.

TVC Bacchus Energy Drink

After a year, I could still feel the energy from the shoot of his Ad. It was both exhilarating and draining at the same time. Here's a peep at the behind-the-scenes of one of the first few ads I did at Grey. The TVC embedded here is low quality.

Love the drama of this silhouette shot. The director, Paul Alexie, is actually in front giving directions to the lead talents.

There were real dangers during the shoot. Filming took place in a 6 storey condemned building. Complete with jutting iron rods, broken glass, stairs with no handles and piles and piles of debris all over. These things combined, added more realism to the scenes.

Shots of Paul demonstrating his 'action directing' prowess.

I tried to do the same thing myself but you know you got to leave it to the experts when you get that kind of smile from the boss.

We had none of the simple 'luxuries' we're used to during shoots. Here we ran with the crew. We ate and breathed cement dust. Climbed stairs to the top floors with no handles or rails. Sat on dirt and burned under the sun. But, we loved it and enjoyed every minute of it.

Yes, the jump was real. Parkour is quite challenging, but the guys made it look so effortless. Learning how to use your body efficiently to move around is an art form.

We had three monitors for each cam (16mm, HD and P2) that we look at for reviewing scenes. The man on the lower left is one of the veterans of cinematography in the country Rody Lacap. Learned so much during the shoot. Beats sitting in class and knowing the theories.

It does take away the magic when you see how things are shot. But seeing them also answers a lot of questions.

This was one of the last scenes we shot. The 'suspect' played by Xeno was such a good actor his adlibbed scene was such a hit. Unfortunately, this scene did not make the final cut.

Finally, the mandatory 'cool' shot of the actors.
